While Switzerland generally offers a very safe and protective environment for reporters, in recent years, press freedom has faced a less favourable political and economic climate than in the past. This trend has been reflected in parliamentary decisions to restrict the freedom of investigative reporters, pressure on public media funding and the decline in funding for private media outlets.
